A Prayer for the Waiting

For those who have prayed again and again and still hear only silence — trusting God in the space between the ask and the answer.

▶ Listen in English

Lord, I have been waiting. I have brought this need to You so many times that the words have worn grooves into my heart, and I am tired in a way that sleep cannot fix. I confess that Your silence feels like rejection, and I don't always know how to trust what I cannot see or hear or feel. Some days I wonder if You have moved on without me, or if I asked the wrong way, or if I simply don't matter enough to answer. Help me to believe that You are working in the waiting — that this space between my prayer and my answer is not emptiness but something sacred I don't yet understand. Teach me not to resent the delay, but to find You inside it, to discover that You yourself are the gift and not only the answer I've been chasing. Hold me together until then. Amen.

Reflection

Scripture is full of sacred waiting — Abraham held his breath for decades before Isaac came, Joseph spent years in a prison cell before the dream was fulfilled, and the Psalmist cried out in Psalm 27:14, 'Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage.' The delay is not denial. James 5:11 reminds us that God's deep compassion is most visible on the other side of endurance. What is being formed in you during the waiting may matter more than the answer itself — the character, the depth of trust, the tenderness that suffering alone can grow.

▶ Escuchar en Español

Señor, he estado esperando.
